This is a unique gem of a cottage, and we found it to be a place of true refuge. It is beyond lovely decorated -- it is curated with beautiful painted floors, doors, and pieces of art. We only used the master bedroom and bath, and found them to be totally comfortable. In the morning and at twilight, you can hear birds singing throughout the area. The back patio and yard are lovely - I sat out there for a good portion of my stay, and saw cardinals, doves, robins, nut hatches, a cat bird, an actual cat or two!, a hawk, and many other birds.. The kitchen is furnished with everything you need. We set the coffee to automatic and had a hot cup of coffee early in the mornings with the sunrise. I was also working on a project, and the kitchen table area was a perfect place to peacefully work with the windows open. I can't express how much we enjoyed our stay, and we will certainly be back. (I should mention the grocery store is close by, and it is a short drive to hiking trails in the Laurel State Park).
My friend and I absolutely loved our couple of days here. Tom was so prompt in responding when I had a question. I loved that they had a notebook with information about restaurants in the area. Beautiful cottage and beautiful surroundings! I will be back, Tom and Christen! Thanks for sharing your lovely home. Wish we could've stayed longer.
We visited the cottage the early part of September 2016 for a 3 day getaway. What a wonderful cottage it is! Much larger than you would expect with lovely rooms, very clean and a nice location. Though it was very hot/humid outside, the cottage was so comfortable with excellent central air. There are lots of windows which just brings the outside in. We made a great brunch one morning and really enjoyed the farm table in the dining area looking out the bay window onto the back deck and yard. Our hosts were so very nice and were there if we had any questions/concerns. This is a gem in our beautiful Laurel Highlands and would not hesitate at all to visit again!
My wife and two children recently stayed in this cottage. The owners are friendly and a pleasure to deal with. The cottage had a location which is central to many attractions. The cottage is so nice though that you hesitate to even go out. The price was reasonable comparative to others we have stayed at in the area. We do plan on going back. Highly recommend.
Thanks for the kind words, Michael. We look forward to having you & your family back soon!
I stayed in the cottage with my wife and 4 small children when we were in the area for a family reunion. We could not have been more pleased with the cottage! The owners have done a wonderful job renovating and decorating, lots of charm! Compared to all the other choices in the area this home stands out. I love the painted floors and the hand painted faux finished on the trim. My children played in the yard we walked through the quaint community. Great location for tours of Fallingwater (which I did with my oldest daughter) and Kentuck Knob (next time), and if we had more time we thought Fort Ligonier looked interesting. Highly recommend!
I would kindly like to thank the Mizkars for allowing us to stay in their fabulous, cozy, comfortable home for the Memorial Day weekend. Everything was perfect. Well supplied, immaculately cleaned, everything was completely arranged as they had noted. The home is a beautiful home at which one may be indulged to want to buy! The hand painted florrs were beautiful as well as the Antique items found throughout the home. My friends and I wanted a weekend get away that we could enjoy not only inside but outside the cabin as well. Lots of places to visit near this home. The Mizkars were very helpful with anything we had questions on, they called upon check in to make sure everything was okay and also made a check up call after our stay. I can say, the fun and enjoyment we had staying there this weekend is one to remember. We will visit this place again. Also, the pictures I do agree do not show the cabin justice. It's one you need to see for yourself. Thank you Tom & Christen--we will be back! We highly recommend this place for your vacation or weekend stay. Kindly- Sharon, Mark, Dawn, Micheal, Lisa & John
Thanks, Sharon! We will look forward to meeting you in person next time you visit. T&C
My husband and I stayed at Beechwood Cottage for a winter weekend getaway. We are both very fond of the Laurel Highlands and visit the area often. Beechwood Cottage is a little slice of heaven. Nestled in a quaint community, Laurel Mountain Borough - Laughlintown I found the small community quite lovely and centrally located to all of the places that were on our weekend itinerary. Tom and Christen were awesome hosts from the start very attentive, very informative and helpful and even called to make sure we arrived ok and wanted to see if we needed anything. Their property is beautiful. The Photos do not do the cabin justice. It is decorated with eclectic antiques, unique art and lovely furnishings. We enjoyed both fireplaces, cooked a lovely dinner and enjoyed the birds all around the property. I am quite sure we will be back again in the future and I would highly recommend this property to friends and family. Thank you for sharing this lovely home with us. Dave & Trish 2-14-16
We had a lovely time in this obviously much loved cottage. We stayed for a couple of nights because the house is located near Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob, but is also an attraction in itself. The beautiful painted floors and other restored details of the house are worth the trip! Tom was available to greet us and help settle us in. It was a great experience. I highly recommend a stay here. Thanks, Diane, Giulia, and Mauro
I needed a place for me to unwind and relax after a stressful past 4 months and enjoy time with my son and his family. The cottage was great from the minute we walked in and a great location. Tom and christen were so welcoming. plus all the parks, historical sites, ligonier, rafting, etc. Within a close distance. We found things to do for ages preschool to past 60. We had breakfast on the back porch every morning. Definitely will return.
We are older parents with two boys. This cottage gave us lots of room to spread out during our rainy vacation. The house is charming with the wooden floors, stylish and eclectic furnishings, supplied kitchen- and the deck and yard were a bonus. It is tucked into a woodsy neighborhood that will remind you of a mix of English garden and seaside casual. Tom and Christen had everything prepared and arranged for exactly as they had stated they would. The location is central to so many great Laurel Highland attractions: Ohiopyle & Laurel Caverns are an hour south, Flight 93 and Indian Lake less than an hour east, and less than 5 miles to Fort Ligonier, the Diamond for shopping and cafes, lush state parks and Idlewild amusements! We will definitely stay here again.
