Fallingwater Frank Lloyd Wright’s masterpiece is a top destination for many of our visitors. It’s a short (and beautiful) drive through some of the most scenic parts of the Laurel Mountains. Visitors come from around the world to visit this internationally renowned site. Don’t forget about the area’s second Wright house at Kentuck Knob. Reservations are a must – if you would like to visit Fallingwater be sure to click through to their web site.
Compass Inn is our nearby circa 1799 stagecoach stop. You could walk to it from the cottage (half-mile each way) but the Lincoln Highway is busy, so it’s best to drive. It’s furnished with period pieces and a glimpse into the early history of our Valley. It is located 3 miles east of Ligonier in Laughlintown on Route 30 (about a half a mile from the cottage).
Fort Ligonier – The historical anchor of our area and the site of a pivotal 1758 battle for the control of North America. George Washington served here in his early career as an English officer. See his dueling pistols in their museum!
The Ligonier Country Market is a summer Saturday morning tradition – visit with folks, see what’s new from area farms, listen to music, crafts and more…and it’s back through the month of October for 2016. The market is different every week – it’s a “must do” for our guests.
